COLLEGE ENTRANCE PORTFOLIO
“This college admission portfolio was entirely developed through my self-taught knowledge and artistic practice at the time. It consists of 31 artworks, including an 18-page A4 sketchbook, six additional drawings, and seven canvas paintings, created using pencil, charcoal, markers, ink, pastels, oil, and acrylic.
The works explore a variety of subjects, from intimate aspects of identity and self-expression to observations of everyday life. Together, they reflect an early stage of artistic exploration that ultimately became the foundation for my development throughout my undergraduate studies.”

“Further into my time at college, this collection serves as a reflection of what I have learned and developed so far. It showcases my growing abilities, creative skills, and imagination, alongside my efforts to capture the emotions and ideas behind each work.
With the guidance and support of my tutors, I have refined my skills and expanded my artistic approach. The collection primarily consists of assignments from various subjects, with a focus on oil painting, alongside mixed-media works and charcoal studies. Varying in size and theme, these works range from personal narratives and expressive pieces to observational studies created simply to explore and understand what was before me.”

What is your general background?
“My name is Patricia, and I was born in Romania in 2005. I am undergraduate student at WUT FAD and an artist, and most of my work revolves around exploring personal experiences, emotions, identity, and the process of growing and developing as a person.”
How did you begin this account?
“The general idea behind starting this account was to share my artworks online and, eventually, create my own community. I wanted to have a space where I could showcase my work, share the ideas and stories behind it, and connect with people who might resonate with it.”
Are these artworks made by you?
“Absolutely. Every artwork is made by me, and each piece is one of a kind. At the moment, what you see are the original artworks, although I may offer prints of some of them in the future.”
How long does it take you to make an artwork?
“It depends on many factors, such as the complexity of the piece, the materials used, and the overall process behind it. Because of this, every artwork takes a different amount of time. If I were to give a general estimate, however, a piece could take anywhere from one to two months, at best.”
Do you do commissions or collaborations?
“Unfortunately, I am not accepting commissions or collaborations at the moment. I have completed a few commissions in the past, but personally, I do not feel prepared to take on new ones right now, whether they are national or international.”
What advice would you give to somebody who is just beginning their artistic journey?
“I would suggest not holding yourself back when it comes to creating. I have made plenty of mistakes myself, and I have learned and evolved from them.
Most importantly, I believe that practice and forming a strong connection between your hand and your brain should be prioritised. Create your own safe space, put on your favourite music or podcast in the background, and simply begin.
There is nothing holding you back. You do not have to be perfect from the start, you just have to start.”
